How to master an honours nomination

Event date: 28 July 2021

Start: 12:30 pm

Finish: 1:45 pm

Come and find out how to nominate someone deserving at this session aimed at young people.

About this event

We all know someone who deserves an honour but how do they end up on the honours list? Someone nominates them! And you could learn how to at this workshop aimed at young people working in voluntary and social action sectors.

Join this one hour session with additional time for questions for a behind the scenes look at how the honours system operates, and get top tips on what to include in your nomination.

You’ll hear firsthand from honours recipient Mete Coban MBE, Chief Executive of My Life My Say who received his award for services to young people about how it feels to be recognised, and you’ll meet Carly Jones MBE, member of the Community and Voluntary Services Committee and Independent British Autism Advocate about what she looks for in a nomination. We’ll also share data that highlights the need for more nominations for worthy candidates who are under 30 years old.

The session is being organised by the Cabinet Office in partnership with DCMS and Young Voices Heard.
